Here's one of my latest pieces, this absolutely magnificent and very substantial Maw, Till, Kirke & Co. (circa 1876 - 1892) buffet/sideboard. 
 

This hand-painted mural displays my one-off design. I love the peacock and I think it makes for a gorgeous, striking centre piece. 

I have given it an ebonized finish. This is much more of a delicate process than merely painting it black - this approach extenuates the antique nature of the piece. You still see the wood, you still see the grain and all the lovely trim stands out to give extra texture. 

It's got a lovely silky look to it now that it's waxed.
